FAQs about Magnificent Mutts
about Magnificent Mutts
Here are some questions that we often get asked via email and at adoption
Question: What is included in the adoption fee?
Answer: Our adoption fee is to help recoup the costs we incurred rescuing the animal. When we receive a new dog or cat we make sure they have the following:
Question: Where do you get the dogs/cats from?
Answer: Our Magnificent Mutts are mainly domestic dogs and cats who come to us from various places. Some of our animals are rescued from high kill animal shelters. Others come from owner surrenders or are found roaming the streets. As our name suggests, we are an all-breed rescue which tries to find loving homes for these rescued animal regardless of breed. Our motto is "they are all magnificent mutts".
Question: Will you "hold" a dog?
Answer: We will NOT hold a dog. Sometimes there are multiple applications for a specific dog or cat. We will place the dog or cat with first loving family that has a processed and completed application.
Question: What if I want to adopt a dog/cat at one of your adoption events?
Answer: Fill out an application online, print it out, and bring it with you to the event. Having the paperwork completed and ready to go will make the adoption process much easier.
Question: How do you know the type of dog/cat breed?
Answer: The fact is we don't. We do our best based on the information given to us by the shelter, owner, or veterinarian. The breed is thus our best educated guess, but still a guess nonetheless.
Question: How big will this puppy/dog/kitten get?
Answer: Again, we just don't know. We can give you our best educated guess based on the size of the mother, or what the veterinarian has told us, but again it's not an exact science. The only way to guarantee the size of a dog/cat is to adopt an adult dog/cat.
Question: Does this dog/cat shed?
Answer: All dogs and cats shed. Some dogs and cats may shed less than others, but they ALL shed.
Question: What if someone in the household is allergic to dogs/cats?
Answer: Someone who is allergic to dogs/cats will be allergic to all dogs. The severity might change, but not the allergy. We specifically ask this on our application but nothing is worse than becoming attached to a dog and then having to give them back. We ask that if someone in your household is allergic to dogs or cats, please consider adoption and all the consequences carefully before proceeding.
