Owner Surrender
**Magnificent Mutts reserves the right to not accept animals we feel
would not be suitable for adoption.**
Current economic and financial difficulties have affected most everyone
these days. In dealing with
financial hardship, we all have to make tough decisions. If you have found
yourself out of money and out of answers, we would like to help.
If you are reading this you have probably considered surrendering your
pet, but your torn because you don't want your beloved pet to end up in a
cage for the rest of their life.
Magnificent Mutts understands, and we would like to help.
When considering surrendering your pet, we suggest you try the
following items listed below first.

Have you spoken to friends, family, co-workers, or anyone who might consider
taking your pet? Ask them if
they know of anyone who is looking for a pet.

If buying food is the issue, local food pantries also offer assistance with
pet food. Please consult your
county government, local church or food pantry in your area for further
details.

If veterinary expenses are the problem, talk to your vet and discuss what
services are absolutely necessary, and which ones can maybe wait.

Visit
the American Humane Societies website:

They have a "Tips for Homeowners" with pets who are facing
foreclosure.

If your pet is just not adjusting or seems hard to handle, consider taking
your pet to an obedience class or consult a professional trainer.
If you have tried some or all of the suggestions listed above, we will try
to help in any way we can.
Magnificent Mutts has specific requirements for an owner surrender.
Please read them before proceeding.

You must be the legal owner of the animal you are surrendering, and the pet
must have been in your custody for the past 30 days.

You will need to fill out our
Owner Surrender
Form, include a picture of the pet, and submit via email to
us at
magmuttsrescue@aol.com.

Once we have received your Owner Surrender form we will call you or contact
you via email to further discuss your situation.

An appointment will be made for you, your pet, and a volunteer from
Magnificent Mutts at our preferred veterinarian's office.
At this appointment, the overall health and disposition of your pet
will be assessed.

would not be suitable for rehoming.**

All medical records and information about the health and care of your pet
should be brought to the veterinarian's appointment.
This will help us assess the overall health of your pet, and also
prevents unnecessary expenses.

Although it is difficult, a lot of people surrender their pets when they are
elderly or sick, and the only option might be euthanasia.
Euthanasia fees will be at the owner's expense.

Magnificent Mutts has a surrender fee for each type of pet.
This fee helps provide food, shelter, and other expenses for the
animal until it can find a new home.
