Are You Ready to Adopt?

Adopting a dog or cat is a big commitment.  We want to make sure our dogs and cats go to their forever homes and never have to look back. Please read the questions below and answer them honestly.  These questions are designed to help you truly understand the commitment you are making to adopt a dog/cat.

Do you understand the lifelong responsibility of adopting and caring for a cat/dog?

Most dogs live between 10 and 12 years, and cats can live up to and even beyond 20 years of age.  They will require proper nutrition and regular yearly visits to a veterinarian.

Are all members of your household in agreement to adopt?  It is important that all members of the dwelling in which the dog/cat will reside are in agreement.  We encourage all members of a family (even the furry ones) to come out to meet the potential animal you want to adopt.  This is a great way to see if all members will get along together before you go home together.

Will adopting a pet result in violation or your lease or rental agreement?  It is important to check with your landlord or lease agreement to see if pets are permissible.  Magnificent Mutts does require a copy of your lease, rental agreement, or a letter from the landlord if you chose to move forward with the adoption process.

Are you willing to have your pet spayed/neutered when the time comes?  All of our adult dogs and cats are spayed and neutered before they are adopted.  However, the puppies and kittens might be too young for this procedure.  We require that this procedure be done when the puppy or kitten reaches the appropriate age.  This is not negotiable as we are bound legally by our 501(c)3 status.  In fact if you do not have the puppy/kitten spayed or neutered in the allotted time, Magnificent Mutts MUST reclaim your puppy/kitten.

Are you 18 years or older?  If you are not 18 at the time of the adoption, Magnificent Mutts will not approve your application.

Are you prepared to pay the following adoption donation?  The donations for each type of animal are listed below.  These fees help defer the cost for vetting, transporting, and fostering the animal until it is adopted.
