Magnificent Mutts Underdogs . . .

Priya
Priya came to Magnificent Mutts Rescue with her brother Raj.  After a few days of being in foster care, her foster mom Mary noticed she would get extremely tired after playing for only a short amount of time.  Thankfully for Priya, her foster mom is also studying to become a vet tech.  She knew that this wasn't normal puppy behavior and took her to the vet where her heart condition was discovered.  Priya needed to have heart surgery in order to live a healthy long life.  Magnificent Mutts decided she deserved that chance.  So Priya, Mary, and Linda went to Indiana to have this life saving surgery performed.  After her surgery, Priya is a happy go lucky little girl who has all her puppy energy!  Priya is definitely on her way to a full recovery.  We are still short of our goal to cover all surgery and the extra expenses that go with it.  Please donate to Priya and help us recover the cost we encured to give her the life she deserves!  She is truly a sweet heart!

Clover
Clover is a feisty 1 year old female Yorkshire Terrier.  She found herself in a cage at a kill shelter.  Alone and scared, she also favored her hind leg.  When examined more closely, it was discovered Clover could not put any weight on her hind leg.  The shelter quickly approached a rescue to take her and get her the medical attention she deserves.  It turned out Clover has a luxtating patella, which is quite common in small dogs, but hers is more severe than most and requires surgery.  The cost of surgery for this little ball of energy is $1700.  We are asking anyone who could help, even a few dollars, to please donate to Clover's surgery and recovery fund.  We want to give Clover the best quality of life that we can, and she deserves it!  Clover appreciates any donation and will shower you with her sweet kisses!

Pongo
Meet Pongo, a beautiful German Shepherd who has been beated and tramatized by his previous owner.  He has a protrusion eminating in the middle of his head from an old injury that has permentatley disformed his skull.  His most recent beating has left additional wounds. In addition, he is heartworm positive and has a fungal infection in his ears.  Despite all the abuse this poor dog has endured, he has a sweet disposition and is very gentle. He is on his way to Magnificent Mutts where he can start his life over with a forever family that will treat him with unconditional love and affection.  If you would like to donate to Pongo's veterianary expenses please click on the donate button at the top of the page.  Thank you so much for your compassion for animals who have been so badly treated.

Kellar

This beautiful blind german shephard girl was left out in the cold, on a chain, and with no food. Neighbors grew more and more concerned as the temperature kept dropping.  A concerned citizen even brought a doghouse to the property to help this poor soul. She was left alone, cold, and frightened.  Her previous owner didn't even have the decency to give her a name.  Finally, the owner reliquished her to an organization in the area, and then arranged her transport to us here at Magnificent Mutts.

We are relieved that she is now out of the cold and in the warm and loving care of Magnificent Mutts.  If you would like to donate to Keller's vetting, food, or other doggie comforts, please click on the Donate button at the top of the page.  We thank you for having a heart this Valentine's Day.

Darla

Poor Darla was found on the side of the road somewhere in Indiana.  A concerned passer by saw Darla and took her to the nearest Animal Control Facility.  The facility had no room and no way to treat Darla's injuries.  A desperate call was sent out to area rescue's to save Darla's life.

Magnificent Mutts answered and brought Darla to the Chicagoland area to treat her injuries.
During treatment, it was discovered that Darla's injuries were the result of gun shot wounds inflicted at point blank range.  Since her wounds were inflicted by a human, you would think she would be fearful and agreesive towards people, but through it all she remained gentle and trusting of those dedicated to saving her life.

The story doesn't end there either.  After enduring 5 hours of surgery, an amputated leg, and treatment for heartworm, it was discovered Darla was pregnant!  A few months later after all she had endured, she gave birth to Hope, Awe, and Wonder.  All three puppies are doing great!  Darla is truly an underdog not to be underestimated!
