Meet Deanna!

1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts?

I have been with Magnificent Mutts since November 2024.

2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM? 

As a volunteer, I foster and attend adoption events. 

3) What is your favorite, or most memorable MM experience or story?

Broadly, being a soft landing spot during a difficult transition in my foster pups lives. Then, the joy in seeing them find the fur-ever home they deserve. 

4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type?

I grew up with and currently have a large, rescue, mixed breed. Their unique personalities and one of kind looks make them my favorite!

5) What are your hobbies or what do you like to do for fun?  

For fun, I love going to concerts, playing in a bags league, exploring new forest preserves/hiking trails with my pup, and binge watching every reality show I can get my hands on.

My pup Sam would probably say barn hunt classes, puzzles, and eating cheese 

6) What advice would you give adopters? 

Adopting a dog takes a lot of patience. Their adjustment to a new home may be overwhelming to them (I know from experience). With consistent training and love, you’ll help them thrive and become the best companion!

7) Are you a morning person or a night owl? 

During the school year, I’m definitely a morning person, as it comes with the territory of being an educator. Come summer, I fully embrace my night owl side.

8) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

If I could visit anywhere in the world, I would visit Alaska. I’d like to see the beauty of the landscape and hope to catch the northern lights.

9) When you were little, what did you want to grow up to be? Are you currently in that profession, or a related field? 

When I was little, I had different ideas of what I wanted to be, but over time and through experience, my path evolved and led me to become a school counselor. 

10) Tell us your favorites… (answer all or just a couple)

– song, artist, or type of music: All of the boy bands, from New Kids on the Block to *NSYNC to One Direction. I’m a sucker for a good pop song and coordinated dance moves.

– tv show or movie: I can watch Superstore on repeat.

– food: I’ll shout out to some Elmhurst local favorites, such as Mamma Maria’s, Fresh Start Cafe and Primos Locos.
