This series is dedicated to helping our community get to know the dedicated and selfless human beings that keep Magnificent Mutts Rescue running.

Meet Kayla!

As a foster mom Kayla opens her home and heart to pups looking to find their forever homes.  She starts laying the ground work teaching pups the do’s and don’ts of being a good well rounded dog.  While she has only been with us a short time she has definitely made an impact on the lives of many Mutts!

1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts?
I have been with Magnificent Mutts since January 2025 and am looking forward to  continuing in the future!

2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM?
I am a foster mom! Almost always puppies!

3) What is your favorite, or most memorable MM experience or story?
So far I have had two favorite experiences. The first was attending my first adoption event and experiencing one of my very first fosters getting his forever home! It was such a great feeling and totally worth the work I put in to fostering him! The other was being very scared that 3 of my puppies were sick and ended up positive for Parvo, they all got treatment and pulled through. One of the 3 even got adopted! They are all doing great! It was a huge learning experience but so worth it!

4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type?
My absolute favorite dog breed is a Great Dane and am sad I don’t have one! I also love Yorkies and have a Yorkie Poo at home!

5) What are your hobbies or what do you like to do for fun?
My own personal hobby is being a foster mom, attending adoption events and taking care of my own animals. I am also a mom to 4 kids and I am very fortunate to be a stay at home mom so that is what I enjoy doing. I do all sorts of fun stuff with my kids!

6) What advice would you give adopters?
The best advice I can give is have patience and give your new puppy time. Don’t think you’ll bring home a perfect puppy! Puppies are a lot of work and take time to adapt to new people, new environments, and need time to be the puppy you want them to be. Stay calm and do your absolute best to teach your puppy your expectations of them. Training is key!

7) Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I like to say I am a permanently exhausted pigeon HA! I hate waking up in the mornings and I love when it’s getting close to bedtime so I can lay down relax and go to bed!

8) What’s your favorite season of the year, and why?
My favorite season is summer! I absolutely love the sun and warm weather. I love to take my kids swimming at grandma’s pool and enjoy all the extra time I get with them!

9) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
My dream destination is Italy! I am mostly Italian and have family that came from Italy so I definitely hope to visit at least once!
