This series is dedicated to helping our community get to know the dedicated and selfless human beings that keep Magnificent Mutts Rescue running.

Meet Barb B!
1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts? I started volunteering with Magnificent Mutts in December 2024, so it’s been about 9 months.
2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM? I foster dogs and as a foster mom I attend adoption events, transport dogs to vet appointments and most importantly give the dogs a loving temporary home while awaiting adoption.
3) What is your favorite or most memorable MM experience or story? My most memorable experience was when my first foster was adopted. She was an older dog who was overlooked at a few events. A family traveled from Indiana to meet her and I felt such joy when she went home with them.
4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type? I am partial to large dogs, but really like them all.
5) What are your hobbies or what do you like to do for fun? Since I retired, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my grandchildren. I also like to visit with friends, sharing a meal or going concerts. I love outdoor activities, especially gardening and walking and I make sure to get outside everyday.
6) What advice would you give adopters? I’ve learned that dogs need time to adjust to new people and environments. I would tell adopters to take things slow, and give their dog lots of love. I also believe that training is beneficial no matter how many dogs you’ve owned before.
7) Do you have any pets of your own? Yes, I adopted Chloe in March. She is a medium sized pup with a giant personality. She is the perfect hostess to all the fosters I bring home.
8) What’s your favorite season of the year, and why? I like Fall the best. It’s a great time to be outdoors in the crisp air and you can’t beat the beauty of the leaves changing.
9) Tell us your favorites…
– song, artist, or type of music . I usually listen to classic rock. I still love the bands I listened to in the 70’s, but I do delve into a little country, blues, and alternative rock from time to time.
– food – There’s nothing better than a perfectly grilled medium rare porterhouse steak! Yes, please!
– sport or sports team – Due largely to my father’s influence, I’m a Cubs fan through and through. Baseball is the only sport I follow however, I enjoy watching any sport that my grandkids are playing.
