August 2024
This series is dedicated to helping our community get to know the dedicated and selfless human beings that keep Magnificent Mutts Rescue running.
This month we’d like you to get to know our volunteer – LeAnne!
LeAnne is a jack of all trades! From helping with intake, to assisting with meet and greets, to transporting dogs to our events, and now to fostering – she does it all!
Meet LeAnne!
1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts?
8 years
2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM? I have helped in couple different ways, handling at events, meet and greets with potential adopters, transporting fosters to events, helping Michele with appointment adoptions. I recently also started fostering.
3) What is your favorite, or most memorable MM experience or story?
I’m not sure I have a most memorable but for me-I love to see our alumni posts. It is great to see our dogs go into loving homes and live their best lives. It is especially rewarding when the dog is with us for a longer period before being adopted.
4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type? I don’t think I do. I grew up with a pug. I’ve had a yorkie and a mini Australian shepherd and they all have characteristics that I loved. I do enjoy the Great Pyrenees mixes, they are beautiful and seem to have wonderful personalities.
5) What are your hobbies or what do you like to do for fun? I enjoy watching sports, reading, biking and walking.
6) What advice would you give adopters?
Be patient. Allow your dog to have time to feel comfortable and their personality will shine.
7) Are you a morning person or a night owl? I guess I would be a night owl. I get up early enough but it takes me a bit to get going in the morning and I like to take my time.
8) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? There are a few places on my list; Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece and Australia. Mostly I like new experiences and places. I see pictures, read books or see movies of these places and I’m curious to see them in person.
9) When you were little, what did you want to grow up to be? Are you currently in that profession, or a related field? I grew up and wanted to be a teacher and coach. I did teach and coach for 20 years before I went into educational technology. I always have loved school and learning new things. Coupled with my love for technology-I now am responsible for helping schools, administrators and teachers use technology to aid in their responsibilities.
10) Tell us your favorite…
– song, artist, or type of music
Mostly 80s music but otherwise newer pop music
– tv show or movie
Shawshank Redemption, Rudy, Forest Gump are movies that I will always stop and watch if they’re on tv. I just finished binge watching Young Sheldon, The Resident, The Bear and Your Honor
– food
I’m not too picky when it comes to food but I do love summer and fresh fruits and vegetables-watermelon, cantaloupe, corn, zucchini etc.
– sport or sports team
Growing up in Iowa you don’t have many choices. I’m a huge Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeye fan. I follow the Minnesota Twins as well. And now I’m an Indiana Fever fan too.
– book
I love medical and legal dramas. Grisham and Baldacci are two of my favorite authors.
