December 2024

This series is dedicated to helping our community get to know the dedicated and selfless human beings that keep Magnificent Mutts Rescue running.

1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts?

I started Volunteering with my family in 2017 when I was in 7th grade. I started volunteering again more consistently last year in October. Last year in October I was reminded how much I love volunteering with Magnificent Mutts, and it is something that gets me out and about on Saturdays after busy weeks at college.

2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM?

I attend the events on Saturdays and usually handle the dogs and anything that entails like cleaning up poop, getting the dogs water, or anything else that is needed to make the dogs happy and to get as many dogs adopted. I also do anything that Linda needs me to do 🙂

3) What is your favorite, or most memorable MM experience or story?

I don’t think I have a favorite moment, but one of the best feelings that happens at these adoption events is seeing the dogs realize that they are going to their new home with their family that is adopting them. It is also super amazing to see how much the adopters are impacted, I can’t count the number of times I have seen someone see a dog and immediately fall in love and end up adopting that dog. It is so rewarding to see the dogs get forever homes, and the families get their best friends.

4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type?

I love all dog breeds and type, especially mutts. Though I do have a soft spot for the bigger dogs.

5) What are your hobbies outside of MM?

I do have a lot of things I enjoy doing outside Mag Mutts. I enjoy running, going to the gym, playing video games (especially with my dogs), and fishing. Running has been my major hobby recently. I ran the Chicago Marathon this year, and I have been hooked since, I know crazy.

6) What advice would you give adopters?

I think that one piece of advice I would give to adopters is that you should always give lots of love and attention to your pups. Some dogs have been through a lot, and by adopting these dogs you are giving these dogs a second chance at life. By adopting a dog you are providing a dog a safe home, and that in itself is amazing. You are also providing a place where they can get all the love and attention they need and want.

7) Do you have any pets of your own?

I have two dogs that my family and I adopted from Magnificent Mutts. One is named Teddy, and he is a smaller poodle mix. The other one is Angel a mutt, who Magnificent Mutts rescued from Puerto Rico in 2018. Teddy is our resident grumpy old man, and Angel is the troublemaker of the household.

8) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I really want to travel South Africa, there is a running race called the Comrades Marathon. This is a 55 mile race between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg. This is something that is on my bucket list that I hope to accomplish before I turn forty.

9) ) Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I am a morning person.
