July 2024

This series is dedicated to helping our community get to know the dedicated and selfless human beings that keep Magnificent Mutts Rescue running.

This month we’d like to shine the light on one of our fosters – Rose! Rose likes to stay in the background and not be fussed over but we got her to smile pretty for the camera! Don’t worry she didn’t get out of answering the questions either! Read below to find out all about this sweet, selfless, thoughtful, volunteer!

Meet Rose M!

1) How long have you been with Magnificent Mutts?

I started volunteering with Mag Mutts in April 2023.

2) As a volunteer, what do you do for MM?

I foster dogs, and occasionally help with dogs coming in on transport. (No cats here because of family allergies.)

3) What is your favorite or most memorable MM experience or story?

Our most memorable dog was our previous foster, Maggie Mae, the one with her head stuck in a plastic jar when she was found. She was completely shut down when she came in, and it was totally rewarding to see her sweet nature emerge over time. She’s now in a perfect forever home with another Mag Mutts pup, Paula.

4) Do you have a favorite dog breed or dog type?

So far, no favorite breed or type. It’s been fun to see all the different personalities of our guests.

5) What are your hobbies or what do you like to do for fun?

I love being outdoors in green spaces, walking and a little bicycling. At home I love to create green space around the house with flower and veggie gardens.

6) What advice would you give adopters?

The best advice I can give adopters is to be patient and consistent with a new dog. The rest is just pure joy.

7) Do you have any pets of your own?

Our dog is a Mag Mutts foster fail named Cookie (fka Columbia).  She’s been great with our other fosters and helps them settle into our routine.

8) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Grenoble, in the French Alps. My father fell in love with the city in WWII and sent many photos and postcards home. He was never able to fulfill his dream of taking our mother there. I would love to see it and complete the circle for him.

9) What’s your favorite season of the year, and why?

Favorite season? All. Warm weather for gardening & hiking. Cold weather a little less now, but I used to be an avid cross-country skier.

10) Tell us your favorite books:

Mysteries & spy dramas in general. I’m currently starting to read “The Vanished Series” by B.B. Griffith, which is a paranormal suspense series.

Anything else we should know….? I need to give credit to my husband Salvador. He’s been my supporter and partner in all of this and is wonderful to all the dogs that pass through our home. Couldn’t do it without him!
