February 2020 Volunteer of the Month

Meet Jim Jozwiak

1. What inspired you to start volunteering with Magnificent Mutts & Meows?

What inspired me the most was that I knew I wanted to make a footprint in life by doing something that would be fulfilling. My passion for animals led me towards Magnificent Mutts & Meows, as I wanted to help them make a difference with all their rescues. I adopted my German Shephard from your rescue and I remember how happy we both were when I brought him home that day and how good of a feeling it was when he finally settled in and was comfortable. Also, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for my sister who kept on sending me pictures of dogs to adopt!

2. What is your favorite thing about being a volunteer here?

My favorite thing about being a volunteer is seeing how many people truly care about the rescues that are brought in and all the time and effort that it takes to find them their forever home. Also, considering what some of these animals are going through and have gone through, they can be so trustworthy and happy given the unfortunate circumstances.

3. Why would you recommend someone volunteer in rescue?

I would recommend someone to volunteer because it is very fulfilling to be part of such a great group of people who all have the same goal: for a rescue to have the opportunity to live a long and happy life in their forever home. Volunteering puts you in a good mood, as you are surrounded by good people. It also takes your mind off the day-to-day grind of life, which gives you the opportunity to make a difference in world by helping one rescue at a time.

4. Describe a memorable moment you had while volunteering.

I think each adoption event is a memorable moment. There is an overwhelming amount of people that partake in the adoption process and it is gratifying to hear all the success stories and see all the happy rescues.

5. Are you a cat or dog person?

I love all animals, but I would label myself as a dog person.

6. Do you have a favorite breed?

My favorite breed is German Shepherd.

7. Why would you recommend someone adopt?

Sometimes we need a second chance in life, and that includes animals. A chance to find their new beginning and happiness in their forever home. It’s about giving the rescues that chance to live out their life to the fullest, as there are so many in need.

8. What kind of work or hobbies do you do outside of rescue?

I enjoy biking, kayaking, spending time with family and of course, playing with my 6-year-old German Shepherd, who sill acts like a puppy!

9. Do you have a favorite food?

Just about everything. I usually take home the leftovers after a family party.
